Yeah that is pretty silly.
I might be wrong, but the piping also doesn't seem right?
It doesn't look like a twin TB setup... but so many pipes leading to that back area...

Great cooling for that pipe! they might have just decided to make custom piping before realizing it wouldn't fit?
The car is legit 6A13 AWD however, gotta give kudos for that.

Considering all turbo jobs on the FTOs are a custom job, it can come in many different shapes and forms. There's nothing to say that the setup there doesn't work.
However saying that, he is going to have a huge amount of lag with the intercooler setup like that

I think what happened is the guy must've used the wrong mount turbo (L/R) and hence now the charged air needs to go over the motor from the front bank to the intercooler rather than if it exited from the right side
