Other members have fitted these without issues though I thought?
It'll be a shame if you don't manage to get it working

Re: BJK's '95 FTO GPX #2!
thats exactly whats happening, fits perfect but cocks off to one side with gear cluster in and fouls on bell housing. thought it may be crown wheel but cant see how that can be warped. may even be possible defect in manufacture of diff, will try with another box this week.
All new bearings etc and they are seated correctly been doing my head in

Yeah, that's the confusing thing. Ben fitted one, so I assumed it would be no problem. Like Tim says, maybe something with diff, might be the box but seems unlikely to be different enough.spetz wrote:Other members have fitted these without issues though I thought?

What are the dimensions like compared to the stock diff? Maybe comparing the two can shed some light on the matter?

Apparently it is fractionally taller than the Cusco that came out. One wouldn't think that would make it do what it's doing though.spetz wrote:What are the dimensions like compared to the stock diff? Maybe comparing the two can shed some light on the matter?
Mm. Problem of course is that it's not "specifically" made for the FTO so the warranty is a bit useless even if it was a defect.Technikhaus wrote:Hmm, was considering getting one, so interesting to see what's happening here...
We'll see with the last one whether it was just the gearbox, or something else. Sadly RPW didn't update site for the dollar dropping and the Quaife I thought might be close to $1250 is actually closer to $1750.

You're speaking like BJK is going to know what you are talking about..Bennoz wrote:Got the shims on the correct side?
Hey Tim....

Re: BJK's '95 FTO GPX #2!
Victory.
turns out it was a Cusco crown wheel, and the tiny, miniscule difference in height of it was causing the issue where it locked on bell housing. All honour to Tim
box is back together, shaft spins, all is right in the world.

Definitely. Can't wait to drive it again. New diff, upgraded brake booster, new lower engine mounts. Should be sweet.Technikhaus wrote:Awesome news!

Re: BJK's '95 FTO GPX #2!
Was a pita but finally got it sorted. Now i have less hair and whats left is grey.
Will be putting all back together over next couple days. So if you get a wavetrac will need new bearings of course. New speedo drive gear and use the OE crown wheel and shim to suit.
I may do a write up on how to remove and refit box

Hair? I thought they were just raised particles of grease.vipfto wrote:Was a pita but finally got it sorted. Now i have less hair and whats left is grey.

Oh you'll be hearing about it haha. I can't guarantee it will be a particularly technical appraisal however!spetz wrote:Great news. Make sure to update us on driving impressions

I'd be keen for a write up, having never done anything like that before, and hopefully will do it next yearvipfto wrote:Was a pita but finally got it sorted. Now i have less hair and whats left is grey.

Also, part numbers for what you needed too please!
