Gears change and car jolts when using indicator on FTO GPvR

I own a 1996 GPvR. Very strange problem. When I give the car cold start, the gear indicator lights are not working. The car will drive but only in gear 2. After about 15 minutes of driving the gearbox slowly comes to life; the gear lights begin to flash and shifting gears becomes possible. However, now when I use the indicator light to indicate left or right, the car will act strangely in combination with the gearbox. For example, 25 minutes into the drive, I will use the indicator light and it will jolt the car and the gears will shift up by themselves. After about 30 minutes of driving, all symptoms disappear and I can drive normally and use the indicator lights without any problem. It's a tiptronic fully automatic GPvR with 4 gears.

I remember this problem first occurred after I drove over a puddle of water with the right side of the car. Since my mudguard is a little damaged, I suspect that water splashed onto some electrical wiring at one point. The strange thing, is that everything works fine after 30 minutes of driving. What could be the problem?

Check for shorts and bulbs that aren't flashing. Also check to see if you've rubbed through any wires in the front guards, broken indicator wires tend to wreak havoc on autos for some reason

^ I had my 4 speed auto blow a fuse and get thrown into safe mode when the front indicator wires were touching others, worth a check that one.
