Painted them with a can! Just went into supercheap and asked for them to mix up some anthracite paint. Then I think I chose a anthracite colour from a jaguar rim. It's all in the prep man. I spend ages sanding it down with 80grit and a orbital sander. Also pays to buy expensive clear coat in a can. I paid $40 for one can but it gives results!

Definitely man! Give it a shot! It's good practice! This is my 3rd set of rims I've painted! Also watch that mighty car mods video about painting rims for some handy tips!

Holy sh*t, pretty sure you posted the damage on Facebook.
I park at a shopping centre every day and I'm scared of this happening more than anything.

Nah that wasn't my one! I don't post much to facebook. Don't even think I'm on the fto Australia facebook page.
Yeah I always worry about it and try to park away from people but that doesn't always work. And cause heaps of 4wds have 4 inch lifts I can see how it would be easy to miss seeing the car there. Then as usual for Perth people don't even leave notes or anything. Yeah I'd be more worried about your FTO looks a ton better than mine! I've been trying to restore this one!

Yeah doesn't always work with the whole trying to avoid parking near people when you're parked in a busy parking lot all day, but I usually park next to the other girls at work, they protect my car haha.
But even people miss judging distance between cars scares me.
If someone rear ends me its basically fucked. The gas will leak out. ><

You'd actually be surprised at how strong the rear floor in the fto is actually. Mine didn't crush the floor at all so I think you'd be right! So don't stress too much!!
Lucky you got some defence on your side!

Wasn't too worried I'm just a little over protective of my car haha.
When I first got it I was going out and checking on it every few hours..
But when I have the money I might go pick up a wrecking FTO. I know there's one on gumtree at the moment. Just in case ;P

Yeah when I first got mine I used to go look at every couple of hours. And even when it was stuck at RPW getting a buttload of things done I would go sit in it some times. 10/10 great car!! Glad I stopped wasting money on a Triton and bought one!

In my area, you'd avoid Centrelink as much as you can.Daniel2019 wrote:f**k thatScorpionwally8 wrote:I work security at centrelink

Bit late for that now as I've already begun. And probably the work reshelling everything and buying another car that's in better condition than mine in Perth is kinda hard.
Also. Bogged and primered. Front bumper, rear bumper and bonnet. Both front quarter panels are back on the car. And one side of the rear quarter panel is ready for painting. So almost done?

Re: FTODreams Not So Dreamy Car! Project Moneyhole!
So side project update on the VGT turbo. I've got a crappy little $30 arduino at the moment. Controlling the vanes at set ranges ATM. 1000-3000rpm 25% 3000-5000rpm 55% and 80% 5000-6000rpm 100% 6000-8000rpm
I understand they aren't ideal ranges but when it comes to testing the turbo I'd rather it run on the safe side to begin with.
Talking with some engineering companies around here I was also informed of a company who makes a vgt controller. It's called Turbo Commander and comes from a company called Suprocktech. It's an expensive unit. But does allow for quite a huge degree of control and safety aspects. Gave the guys a call and can get one for $1085.
Here's a link to it. I'd rather make something though that's affordable that the forum members can use though. If they choose to. Anyways. Next up is to work on getting the turbo to work in a more linear fashion.

You might be the first to use a variable geometry turbo in an FTO. Also, arduinos are not crappy.
LED ALL the things.
