FTO always a stand out !
Dont you think our FTO always STANDS OUT with any car it beside it! the thing is I always park my car near the lift where I work (theres 4 spaces in front of that lift) doesnt matter if its AUDI, BMW, JAGUAR, ( I work in a hospital, and usually this luxurious cars are owned by doctors) but i still find that my fto shine and stand out above them, well at least the LOOKS! staff here always ask who owns that bloody car. Of course with my head up... ME
Im still in love with it, just like i fell in love with the first time I saw it!

Which can cause some unwanted attention too like the clown tonight what got his soarer on boost in first gear only to let his obnoxiously loud show off valve explode right next to me and then slowed down and turned a corner. WOW I thought....not. Funny stuff.BuCkEt wrote:They also look a lot faster than they actually are.

I have to agree too. The best recognition I have had yet is a smile from a couple in a Ferrari 360 Spyder while they drove past. Although I very frequently see owners of most other expensive cars, ie: BMW, Mercedes, Lexus etc staring in amazement while driving past them. So it is always amusing to see people that have spent ~ 100K on a car just stare at my FTO and try to figure out what it is (all badges have been removed).
I also get huge amounts of people staring as they pass me on the highway. It's rapidly becoming the norm to have like 5 - 10 consecutive cars pass with at least one occupant of each car craning their neck to see the front of my FTO as they pass. Often the driver will also have a prolonged look - at speed! I have even seen drivers wander outside their lane while looking either over their shoulder or through their interior mirror at mine.
Lastly, one of the true testaments to the "classic/timeless" shape of the FTO is when people ask how old it is and I say 96. They look in disbelief and swear it looks like a 2003 or later!! Only trouble is that this makes it all the more difficult to find another unique eye catching car when it comes time to move on...

Im a bit over it now. At the start, I loved the attention I was getting in the car. But now I cant go anywhere where people stop and point at my car with the "Pwoaahh Thats Sick!!" expression on their face. Sometimes the attention is good, but when you are in a crappy mood, and you just want to go home, it can be annoying.

LOL. Well it all depends on the mods and colour. It's only ppl like akumi and brendan that get the attention. Around Canberra... I don't get too much attention...
But the worst thing is driving around young P platers... OMG... so many have almost caused an accident around me... they just don't think

I'm actually quite envious of you guys...
Over here, the FTO is just another car. You see them every day on the roads, and if you were to pick 10 car yards at random in Auckland that do 'sporty' cars and go visit them, I would think that probably at least half would have one on the lot. It also helps that they can all still be imported here unlike a lot of cars (you basically can't import cars older than around 1996 here, except for the FTO and a couple of others). So there's nowhere near as much appreciation for them here as you guys get, especially with the huge array of Japanese performance cars available here. Its a bit of a shame really, as they don't seem to get a lot of respect.
But the flip side is that they are quite cheap...

Damn, that's the whole reason I bought my FTO.
Being a passanger in some of my friends cars....it's like woah!
A lot of them just don't understand what it is they're controlling when they're behind the wheel.
It's even worse when they own a car of little value (ie a PoS).

HAHA! We had kids shouting this at us today on our cruise. I feel really bad and feel like shouting back "Sorry kid, its an auto!"akumi wrote:Tell me about it, especially when your car is yellow, i had ppl taking pics while i was driving.
