was working on my car this morning after receiving my speed sensor yesterday. i took out a screw that holds gear selector cable to a bracket and i accidentally drop the screw inside and i couldnt for the life of me find out where it is
does anyone know what the consequence of leaving the screw inside there and since i have no idea where to get the replacement screw can i just use any screw (that fits of course) to secure the cable?
doesn't help you but Im looking to source that cable bracket, called all my local wreckers and such and nothing or wont sell it without the gearbox and the rest too

Screw inside could be very bad. Go get one of those flexible magnets on a stick & try get it out. If you can't get it, I would drain the box oil & see if you can get it out from there.
There's a magnet in the bottom of the box not far from the drain plug specifically to attract metal shards. If the bolt can fit around the crown wheel, it will head down there.
The gear selector screw didnt actually drop into the hole where the speed sensor is (i will be absolutely screwed if that's the case). It just disappear somewhere outside but will be between gear selector bracket and air intake box if i guess correctly. I just cant see where it is that fkin little pos
It is actually pretty big bolt that bolt down gear selector cable to some triangle looking bracket (the black bracket on the left in the picture )
Second hand is not the best option especially at the cost of brand new.
do you know if i am able to buy the replacement nut for it? i dont even know what it's called actually, or part number for that matter
The replacement bolts are MD744628 and the rubberised washers for those bolts are MD723290.
You need 2 washers per bolt and there's 2 bolts.
If you need them quickly then order through mitsubishi aus but if you don't mind waiting a fornight get them through amayama.
There are 2? Mine is only secured by one though. There are rubberised washer (square shape) which are still there. I will order from amayama but in the meantime can i just use 14mm bolt to secure the gear selector? I have waited 2 weeks for my sensor to arrive and really want to drive it again
By the way how do you guys get these parts information? If you don't mind sharing where you get the info from that would be great as i think it would be handy (looking to fix up my bushes)
Cheers mate just realised it will take you direct to amayama too. Pretty nice.
I ended up buying m6 12mm bolt to replace it . Tried to find it again this morning with magnetic stick but i dont know where the fcka went. All fixed up now anyway cheers guys
