Hey guys, I posted this in the GTi-R OZ forum, which I am a member, and I thought I would see what the Moderators and members here thought about joining in a mass import charity drive day if it happened.
Here is a copy of my thread and link, Nothing has been organised as yet, but i think it would be great.

"I was just thinking, and yes I know it was a strain, but how good would it be if some of the Import Car Clubs in Australia got togeather over the same weekend, and did a charity drive for the victims of the Asian Tsunami.
I imagine we could get hundreds for the Sydney drive alone. WE could all meet up somewhere central like Homebush Bay. And get maybe some Mags or TV stations get involved to help promote it. Stop off halfway somewhere for a BBQ and get togeather.
I don't think it would be too hard to organize. Send a few emails to a few forums like the Supra/FTO/Silva/Skyline/XR6Turbo/ETC, and get them all onboard. WE could create a bank account where all the donations could be deposited.
Just an idea. What do you guy think? I imagine Shalom would need to take charge, but I do think we could do this.
And you know what would be really awsome, was if we could get overseas Import Clubs to also do the same, over the same weekend.
I am not sure if any other clubs are doing anything. But I would like to see something like this happen.
Dave"
Thanks for your time
Dave

I think is a good idea, but there are few things you might need to consider
1.) If the turn out in Sydney alone going to be at least a hundred like you said, then you need to get authorization from the local council or even state parliament, for the area the cruise going to past through, as you can imagine the traffic jam it can cause.
2.) Public liability. Whose going to guarantee there won't be few hoons going to do stupid things & set off a chain reaction. And don't kid ourself that its going to be all under control.
3.) This the worst!! Cops might end up defect any modification on any cars, as they did with some of the performance car's show & major performance car's event.
Anyway let us know how you go.

Unfortunately that is a good point about the cops defecting people. They always have to rain on our parade.
But is there a law that say we have to get permission to have a meet?
As for public liability, that is a very grey area, as it would be for charlity, and each person should be insured, thus they would be covered fir any damages they may cause if an accident occured.
This will definately take some organising if it was to happen. I would like to thing it did, but with all the crap nowadays , who knows.
I will take it as far as I can.
Cheers
