Aircon Speed is Max or Nothing

Hey everyone,

As you can see from the title I am having trouble with my aircon control speed. At the moment it only works on maximum or if not, then no force whatsoever.

Now the back story leading up to the event. The idiot who owned the car before me did some seriously dodgy wiring in the car, mix that with my friend being a moron and snipping away while putting in a new head unit ended up with the whole cars electronics caving in.

I called in a friend who is an electrical mechanic and he sorted out what he could. Unfortunately at the end my aircon was broken alongside the side mirrors no longer moving.

If anyone has had this problem then please shout out because I am having some problems here.

An Adelaide person! Unfortunately I cannot help with your quandary asides from the most basic advice. Have you tried fiddling with all the A/C controls? I vaguely remember the fans doing the same thing on mine, but unsure if it would be the same cause. Could always just try unplugging the battery.

Yeah I have tried most of the common techniques. The main reason I am asking is because if it isn't a common problem, then likely it came about due to the dodgy wiring. Guess it is a few hours with an Ampmeter for me! haha

And yeah I have had my FTO for about 4 years now, she has just had a few problems I need to fix so been a bit embarrassed is all to go on the cruises.

Dude, don't worry about it. Everyone's car has at least one problem! we should really organise a SA meet sometime. I know Jack wanted to take the end of last year.

Would be good. I know Jack from high school, he has tried getting me on a few haha. Got a few good roads I could recommend too.

Anyway, if anyone else reads this forum, I will post my solution to the problem (hopefully with pics) if I can fix it. Just because there is nothing worse than a dead end fix forum haha
