One of the reasons I joined here, is to find out how many you actually have left on the road/ stored in sheds and barns, or being lovingly restored to their former glory lol
My aim is to contact every FTO club in the world to find out how many of the "207" are left, a massive job in its own right, as I only speak English. We currently have 12 road legal COTYS in the FTOOC/UK, with 1 road legal outside the club, there are bound to be a few more around, but after 19 years, many of the remaining COTYs in the UK are in the scrapyards, or being broken for spares
When I started this quest,(in the UK) there were only 3 COTYs registered with the FTOOC, in just over 12 months there are 12.
Many of these cars needed work to get them road legal, and as we all know, owning a FTO is a labor of love and "a work in progress", but it shows that they are still out there, but as with all FTOs, in ever declining numbers
As I stated in my UK thread
http://www.ftooc.org/forum/showthread.p ... oty+owners
The COTY is a special FTO because it was built to celebrate Mitsubishi winning the 1994/5 Car Of The Year (Japan) award.207 were built, with one "yellow" unbadged, probably for one of the executives who liked the colour, or a market research/reaction/ showroom car. I don't know if this car still exists, but I will try and find it also, if it is possible.
I would like to thank dstocks for his amazing site
http://www.completefto.com.au/modules/p ... p?mode=vin
This site is like a FTO bible to many of the FTO owners I know in the UK, although there are a few discrepancies, the discerning FTO owner can go there and glean a lot of information there pertaining to his/her particular FTO

So guys/gals get your COTYs out !! lets have a look at them, and if you pass one in a junk/scrap yard, see if you can get me the VIN number please so I can put it on my register as scrapped/junked.
If you own a COTY, road legal or not, I would like your VIN number as well,( and lots and lots of bloody pictures

I aim to compile a register of all the surviving COTYs that were built, not only for my satisfaction, but for the FTO community world wide, plus along the way , glean as much info as I can get on the COTY itself
This register will be posted with every FTO club that I will join eventually so we can see where they all are.
All whinges/whines/moans /piss takes are accepted, but be prepared to have them replied to

I do not know everything there is to know about the COTY (yet) but with help from members from across the globe, maybe in a few years time , I will.
If you know where a COTY is, live , dying or dead, please let me know ( and try and grab the VIN number for me)
Many thanks for reading this post
