After my successful morning I got back to work.

Todays jobs...
- Remove rear brakes
- Remove rear lower control arms
- Remove rear sway bar
- Drain rear diff and AYC
- Remove rear drive shafts
- Rebuild rear drive shafts

I got more parts, mint condition used fog lights from Japan.
They only took 1 week to arrive.
I paid $260 delivered.

Yesterdays work...
- Install delivered fog lights incl new globes.
- Remove and install rear diff seals.
- Install rebuilt rear driveshafts.
- Reconnect rear suspension links.
- Install new rear lower control arms.
- Clean hand brake shoes and mechanisms.
- Install rear rotors, calipers and pads.
- Fill rear diff and AYC diff with fluids.
- Install rear sway bar incl new bushes and drop links.

Notes...
- I had to be inventive removing the diff seals as I couldn't get my drill to them. Vice grips + allen key + cut hands when thay came out suddenly with all my effort and body weight behind the tools.
- The filler plug for the AYC diff was a real bugger to access.
- I am super happy that I have a suction gun.

Another days work...

Jobs completted...
- Make AYC bleeding control loom.
- Bleed AYC.
- Change fuel filter, disconnected fuel pump and stalled engine to release any pressure.
- Bleed brakes
- Removed and replaced guard flares, install new flare trims.

Notes...
- Found my first Japanesse treasure today, under the boot carpet and under the back seat.
It was 8 steel balls with Japanesse writing etched into them, I guess they are from a Japanesse gaming parlour machine. I didn't notice the etchings until I looked at the pic I took.
- Cut open fuel filter to look inside, wasn't too bad.
- Didn't have the correct size rivets to put back into the flares, so I compromised and used part of the old rivets.
- The old glue stuck to the guards was an absolute prick to remove.

We are starting to look at personalized number plates for Sue's Galant.
We would like black on white but that is not available in SA for a one off fee.
This is what we have thought of so far...

I had a bit of a problem, on Tuesday night.
I took the Galant for a test drive and I could hear a constant scrape/squeal noise coming from the back.
I narrowed it down to the tin dust cover that is on the inside end of the rear right axle that sits in the recess of the diff.
I found it to be buckled and scraping the diff recess.
I tried to straighten it with screw drivers with the axle still installed, in the process I stuffed it up completly.

Last night I took the axle out, didn't drain the AYC and only a tiny bit of fluid spilled out, took the shaft clip off so I could refit and retest the drive shaft.
The dust cover wasn't as bad as I thought.
Reshaped it the best I could, it still scraped.
So I grinded a bit off of both ends, so it would then sit on the shaft further and also get rid of some of the outer imperfections.
Tested it, all good. Refit it to the driveshaft with some retaining compound.
Put it all back together, test drove it and it was super quiet.

Had a wheel alignment done today too @ Mitsubishi.

I had a big weekend on the Galant.
Worked from 9am yesterday to 1:30am, 9am to 6pm today.

Work completted...
- Strip out the interior, incl seats, carpet, center console, front door trims, head unit and stereo surround.
- Stripped out all unwanted wiring.
- Removed the JDM twin aerials from the rear window
- Install new JVC double DIN head unit incl wiring it to car lighting (auto dim), mounting hands free mic.
- Install 4 x JVC speakers.
- Install new gear surround.
- install new center console latches.
- Replace a few interior globes.
- Install anti theft device.
- Clean floor.
- Install interior.
- Stripped down the passenger side mirror and attempted to fix the folding mech, no go as it has 2 worn gears.
- Sue cleaned and detailed seats, floor mats, roof lining, carpet and all other interior parts.
- Cleaned and installed under engine tray, wheel arch liners, side engine covers and tow hook cover, incl all new clips.
- Washed the car.

Notes...
- The Galant has had many head units in it's life and all the wiring remained. Installers just added on to what was there over and over. I removed it all and purchased a Mitsubishi to JVC adapter.
- I found moar treasures under the carpet, incl the Galants cigarette lighter and a coin from ??
- I installed the new speakers into the factory wiring/plug, and I didn't want to drill holes for the rear speakers so I worked out a way around it.

The Galant is now complette, finished and done.

Update...

Drove the Galant to Adelaide last weekend and I had a slight knocking noise coming from the front passenger side.

Had the windows tinted whilst at Adelaide, I just went for legal 35%. It cost me $220 from Instant Windscreens.
It was suggested for me to go there from Tim, whom actually booked it in for me. Thanks buddy.
They done a great job.

Last Sunday I had to find what was making the knocking noise.
Jacked it up, shook the wheel and after a while I found it.
I hadn't tightened up the inner tie rod to the steering rack correctly.
Peeled back the rack boot, knocked back the locking washer and tightened the tie rod a further 1/8th of a turn.
Then it was a real bugger to knock the locking washer back down into position with the rack still in the car.
Refit the boot, took it for a test drive and the knocking sound was gone.
I also had the new key cut in Adelaide and programmed it to the car on Sunday.

Took the Galant for another return trip to Adelaide yesterday, to pick up the misses and boy from the airport.
The Galant went fantastic, it was smooth, quite, comfortable and had so much power.
It is an absolute dream to drive.
6 hours driving and I had no issues, not even a sore back.

I will post up my fuel consumption after I refill the tank, but it made it to Adelaide and back (460km) on one tank with 1/4 still left.
I will also post some decent pics when I get a chance to do a proper wash/polish and take it for a photo shoot somewhere nice.
I am thinking maybe in front of a crop of flowering yellow conola.
