Weird revs while in 4th (Tiptronic)
Hey guys,
Just noticing that while in cruzing in forth gear revs at about 2000 doing 60 kph, im finding the engine sounds like its going higher and low but the revs are staying at 2000.... It sounds really unhealthy and not sure what it would be.
Also there was a topic about what is the best time to change gears to the best performance out of your car and it was said to change first gear at around 8200 to 8500, ive tried this and my first gear revs and stops just after 8000 is this normal ??
Thanks for your help.

barfy,
Does this wierd reving happens in any other gear, eg; 3rd gear. You might need to spend little bit more attention to find it in a lower gear, as probably it will happen quicker. Try forcing the car to stay in the 3rd gear and start from low rpm.
I strongly believe that this will obviously happen in the 3rd gear as well.
My problem kinda sound similar with you, but mine happens about 2250-2300 rpm, and sometimes it stays there while accelerating, sometimes it drops about 100rpm and picks up again still while accelerating.
Also I got that high-low going sound as well, but mine is not that obvious, need to drive a fair bit to realise it.
Have you tried to get the error codes out of the system?
I havent done this as well, it might be a good idea to see what the computer says.

I just tried to read the error codes by following the link.
I think it was belong to RichardH, so thank you very much, it is a great practice.
I have 95 GPX Tip with ABS. When I earth the connection 1 and turn on the ignition, I realised that
- engine light was continuosly blinking in the same frequency all the time, which is lighting once a second. This might be translated to that there is no error codes have been registered.
- It looked like car was in limp mode, as the famous "N" was keep blinking
- Now here is the confusing part. My ABS light (orange light with sliding car on it) was reading the error code 13 and 14 continuosly, according to the above link.
I am assuming that error codes are readable from ABS light instead of the engine light for the cars with ABS.
13 Intake air temperature sensor
14 Throttle position sensor
Anyone had these error codes before, or know what they are and what to do?
Regards
Max
