Re: Sahin's FTO
They werent hard to fit. 10 minutes for both. Ive taken them off and put them back on a number of times now. The trick is to lift the bonnet as high as possible (higher than the bonnet stand)

This will be mad if u go ahead with it all, havnt seen anyone turbo an FTO since I've been on the forum.
How much boost r u gonna run? Have ya got estimated cost on getting the whole thing being finished inc injectors bigger pump ? ecu & tune etc??
What can the engine handle with standard internals?
Just run 20pound and f**king thrash it at the drags
Because nothing is faster than a p plater in a commodore.....
except maybe a p plater on a unicorn

Costs to come are
255 fuel pump $100-$200
Relocate battery $100
Brand new plug in Ecu plus tune $2100
Few silicone pipes and clamps and lines and fittings $150
I really don't have to get a brand new ecu but I am because I can't be fucked getting a used one for it to f**k up on me and I'm getting a plug in one for ease
The engine can handle 6psi easily so that's what I'll run while probably building the spare one I have up to handle more
Gearbox rebuild on the spare gearbox on the cards too if bennoz is up for it, and if I do that I'll chuck a wavetrac LSD in it

Re: Sahin's FTO
You'll find it'll handle more boost than that, can safely run up 12 pound.

Re: Sahin's FTO
And do yourself a favor, grab some vernier cam gears. Only need 2 on the exhaust, there's 10kws in that alone. Also check out the fuel rail mods I've done upgrading the link between the 2 rails, part comes out of the US, fits a GTO from memory. You'll also need a decent fuel pressure reg, oh and a decent boost controller. There's another 5-600. Take that price list you've got above & double it!

Re: Sahin's FTO
No matter what level of boost you want to start with, it is always best to prepare for the worst, or for higher levels, as one tends to get bored.
When I built the Evo powered Sonata, I had lots of options to upgrade stuff for half the cost due to all being done at once... I was like, nah, I have the 1000cc bike for speed and fun, I just want this car to have a little more oomph ... After re-doing intercooler set-up, new turbo, bigger injectors, and even then rebuilding the engine as I could feel it was a little worn out...
So do it all in one swoop ...
That is why I have left the Evo/GSR go for so long as is... Just waiting for something to need a look at and then going with the long list... So from just fixing the radiator I have gone with: -
PWR Radiator
Adj Cam Gears (finally)
New rocker cover with better connections for catch can (other one was slightly leaking)
Software upgrade on the ECU (had to be sent to EMS)
5 stud conversion (didn't really have to, but want the brakes ref below)
GTO 4 pot brake upgrade
Re-do turbo manifold (go from twin gates to single, and to fit the radiator)
Dump pipes converted to ADR standard
Bigger injectors - As will now be running flex fuel adapter
When I looked at doing individual parts, it was a rather expensive list... So I thought I would save, do one, then go back, do another... But realised from my Sonata, that I will be paying double labour, and doing double effort. May as well take the whole thing apart, and put back together once... And properly at that...
Also limits the amount of times the car has to come off the road, and the wasted rego...
I also built the car when there was not such a crack down on modified cars. As the years have gone on, it has gotten worse, and now I have to go back and fix up all the short cuts that saved me a couple of hundred each at the time...
