Hi guys/gals,
Great source of info here for a potential new FTO owner like myself - congrats.
I haven't bought one yet, but I am seriously looking around, I'm very fussy. It has to be a GPX and either black or silver tiptronic.. and not overly modified. I do have one question for now, and that is how I can tell 100% certain if a FTO gpx is actually a GPX?
Are there a couple of simple things a noob can check to verify? Any advice greatly appreciated, thanks.
I'll update you if and when I find what I'm looking for.
Yeah oil cap left side (drivers side) is a Mivec engine. And no MAF sensor near the airbox. And take it to 5,500rpm when engine is warm to see if mivec kicks in.
I fix cars.

Thanks for that - so if I see a GR with a Mivec engine in it, it's safe to assume either it's been modified or the owner has no idea what model he has... from what I've read there aren't too many major differences really between all the models and the mivec gives you about an extra 20kw; and the limited edition ones came in yellow with a rear wiper (which doesn't look that great anyhow).
Sorry for being an fto noob . Just trying to learn as much as I can.
You should be looking at either a GPX or a GPvR. GPX is top of the line luxury (climate control) and GPvR is top of line handling (strut braces and LSD).
That doesnt get you a GPvR. GPvR also has different suspension setup (better), thicker sway bars, strengthened cross member, lightened, strut braces etc.... GPX has climate control, fold in mirrors, more soundproofing.

Oh you will be the first to know when I buy a Wavetrac, don't worry about that
I'll drive down to your place with 2 cartons of beer, 1kg bacon, bread and the Wavetrac kit
