Not sure what's wrong
Okay so one night I red lined my 1996 FTO GPX (2000cc mivec) then when I went to park I felt the car starting to stutter a bit. This morning I checked the car, I've noticed that the timing belt seems to be making a loud clacking noise and the exhaust is a lot louder than it normally is (on top of that smoke is billowing out of the muffler but I have no idea if it's just because of the weather or not). Any ideas? The car worked fine before I red lined it, but I've never had a problem with it before.

Get ye to a mechanic. Sounds like youve broken something serious. Smoke is not a good sign.

What im trying to say is that is serious enough to not be a forum diagnosis job. The more you try and diagnose the greater the damage you are likely to do.

Was low on transmission fluid, anyone have any ideas how I can tell if it's starting to get low before hand? That way I can top it up earlier. Also any recommended fluids for FTOs? Glad it wasn't anything major...

Erm..
Check with the dipstick... check it with the car running and at operating temperature. That is what it's for.
Although you shouldn't lose any transmission fluid. You must have a leak somewhere.
