Fair enough, but I dont see anywhere a power to wait ratio (which is spose what u mean?), anyway, i never said anything about other rules, I just said this one
But seriously, can anybody verfiy this??

I don't like signatures, you are always expected to say something funny or interesting. So I'm not doing one...:)

So they really are going to allow only one passenger max unless work or family realted! That is rather frustrating! But back to the super/turbocharged V8 rule. They have no grounds to ban to FTO, Teggy Type R, N/A Supra etc,etc really this makes me
the only concern I have is power to weight ratio, but seeing as they would go on standard figures (unless they want to dyno every car they think is in jeapordy of this) We may be ok!

If I could I'd put a pic here i've tried but i can't!

Listening to the radio today - the 1 passenger rule would be for those P Platers who lost their licence, they would get it back with that restriction
We may see an increase in FTO Purchases soon

Cheers

Not putting FTO's/ Type R's/ NA Supras on that list would just prove how out of touch the Govt is.
All three of these cars can quite easily keep up with their Turbo/Supercharged bretherin.
Meaning it's just as easy to wrap ourself around a pole.
Banning particular vehicles is not the answer. This just means P Platers will have no real experience when they get off their Provisional plates and hop in a big V8/ Turbo car.
Having restricted licenses for different classes of vehicles would help greatly.
IE: You get your dinky P's - only able to drive low power vehicles (let's say - 4cyl >2L).
Then if you want to go higher you have to do more advanced training courses to secure a High Performance License.

Guys, it's never the cars that people drive it's their attitude. I was never a fan of these regulations because sure i can wrap my self around a tree in an R34, but i can also do the exact same thing in a BA Falcon & even a Pulsar.
I wonder what the actualy ratio is between normal cars and the "high performance" cars so to speak, regarding fatal accidents.
There is no easy solution, driver training wount help much, it will just make some people even cockier.
Like with all children the answer lies in the teaching / habbits of the parents and their attitutes toward the whole scene. It all depends on how the driver has been brough up imo.
Thats enough rambling from me.

Exactly, In my opinion banning high performance cars for P platers may have more a negative effect than a postive, (keyword may!) As lack of experience once they get off their p's will be their downfall. Another reason is majority of high performance cars have better safety features than their unpowerful alternative e.g hitting a tree at 60km/h in a R33 Skyline wouldn't be as dangerous as hitting it in a Diahatsu Charade (Don't test it but!)Guys, it's never the cars that people drive it's their attitude

Yea I agree, these are all very valid points and i think the RTA and indeed the government should take a good look at some of the rules they are trying to introduce and the negative affects that it will have on us and all the other P platers.csvperformance wrote:Exactly, In my opinion banning high performance cars for P platers may have more a negative effect than a postive, (keyword may!) Seriously, how many of those accidents that u see on TV actually invole a high performance car as such? Most of them are sh*tty little pulsars and old commodores and camrys, sh*t like that. But as soon as a P Plater in a "high performance" car has a crash, they use it as an excuse to ban the cars we love. am i the only one who sees this?? banning our cars is going to do nothing to stop the road toll. I think more driver training is the key.
thats just my 2 cents.

A few days after that R34 GTR crash - some older guy went and tore up his WRX. A few days after that, again a P Plater mutilated his WRX.
Both the P Platers story's were everywhere - but almost nothing about the older guy.

Check out Richard Batty's "FTO Quarter Mile League" at...
http://www.mitsubishi-fto.net/main.htm
That'll give you a good idea as to the likely work required.
And the short answer is... an engine swap.

I dont know what the answer is.... But having said that I think its much easier to crash a "skyline then a pulsar".... The main problem is that people drive these cars in the dry but then in the wet they are a completely different animal (regardless of tyres). I've had a few friends lose control quite easily in 200sx and skylines purely from moisture on the road. Of course they need to take it easier in the wet, but they do slide and spin quite easily. In my opinion its the sheer explosive power of some of those cars that can be scary, compared to the more gradual increase in a fto, or similar vehicle
In regards to the government I think that they would hope that by the time the 18 year olds have turned 21 they might have a little more road sense....(although this is not always true). 18years old getting excited in a high powered car are probably more dangerous then a 21 year old who has driven for three years getting into a high powered car... thats the only reason i can think of...

Me personally? I wouldn't!CSV wrote:Hey Richard, what engine would you swap to??

That 6A12 is a killer little powerplant, whether it's for a good-natured road vehicle or a rock solid track car. And that's exactly what I'm after....
Check out the "Danny & Jeff's 6A13 conversion thread", wherever it is. Might help, if you're really serious about it.
