LEDS for dash

So i bought some leds for the dash and they keep flickering or dont work. any ideas why?

Ones not working will probably be in the wrong way.. Flickering ones will probably be loose.

Switched em round though, still didnt work. what size are the leds for the Clock and aircon

Ah, ok then. Well in that case, I don't know as I can't remember when I did mine

from memory the clock was larger then dash bulbs, and the aircons are either same size as the dash or slightly smaller.
which led set did u buy?

I was just buying individual bulbs. I used T4s for the dash as T5s were too big. Same with clock

I think i got one pf them at first..didnt include holders, just bulbs

You transfer the holders from the original ones to the new ones if they don't fit.

Flickering means the bulbs are dying.

I did some research on this as I bought 100 cheap T5s for my dash and they kept blowing. They are rated for 12v but the alternator runs at 14.4v and the LED bulbs burn out too quickly. Halogen bulbs don't have an issue with the 2.4v increase but the LEDs are highly sensitive. You can either buy leds with built in resistors or wire one inline to keep the voltage at a regular 12v. If you don't you'll have the dash apart every few months.

Not flickering so much as being on and off. I sorta have to hit the clock to make it work, even then its temporary

Same thing. I'd smack my dash and they'd go on for a bit but it had nothing to do with the connections, these things were tight.

Wouldn't be too hard a job when you find the fuse for the interior lights, just wire it in there. Or let an auto lecky do it.

Where abouts would the resistor have to go?

Ideally on each bulb but you can chuck a voltage regulator on the circuit somewhere. Anyone with a better knowledge of electronics care to chime in?

If you buy the 12V LEDs off of eBay that already have resistors you would need to calculate the total draw of the LEDs on that circuit and place the correct resistor before all the LEDs to drop it down to 12v when the car is running.

Alternatively you can use a 12v voltage regulator to limit the voltage.

If you buy LEDs on their own without resistors you will need to do as above as well as place a resistor on each LED.
