Hmm, so I have you, azza and bennoz vouching for Haltech. Plus I can get local support for the product. I guess it's worth paying bit of extra for it then. And if the newer models control the injectors directly like the Greddy, then we should be fine. :)

I'm not debating that the Haltech is bad. In fact, I was always going to run a Haltech. Just thought that after my chat with Shane yesterday that the eManage was worth a look. But if the new Haltech has independent control over fuel and timing (i.e. can control each individually was basically how Shane explained it - not just group them together) then there is no difference.

I'm all for the Haltech, and I'm all for the eManage. Doesn't really matter to me to be honest.

Daniel2019 wrote:May I suggest looking into the GReddy eManage Ultimate as Shane had.

After a chat to him today, the eManage has better tuning capabilities than the Haltech. They are also $665 on eBay here - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GREDDY-E-MAN ... 0857818467

    Some info here http://ftoaustralia.com/v3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=28276

    Just a suggestion.
    Slight correction young Danielsun 8)

Our discussion last night was comparing the Haltech Interceptor. They are both 'piggyback' computers. ie they still require you to keep the stock factory ECU. Although the Interceptor is much simpler to install, and more people in the FTO community run them, the eManage Ultimate has a lot more capabilities in that it does directly tune injection and timing, plus lots of other useful features.

The Haltech ECU in this group buy is not a piggyback, this is a full ecu. So will completely replace your existing ECU. This will be more superior again over the eManage Ultimate, but also potentially more work to install and support. Unless of course Haltech have a plug and play setup available for the FTO (ie disconnect factory ecu, plug in Haltech, check lights up, turn on ignition, car starts, now drive to dyno for final tune). With enough interest I'm sure they could organise this. Depending on price this would be a much better option again. Also if more people go down this route the combined knowledge and therefore available support would also be superior.

    HTH :)

Shane, which option do you suggest for people who are never going for a Turbo setup, but just wants a well tuned engine, giving them a good balance of power and mileage, while telling the ECU what octane fuel I am using.

A piggyback or a full replacement?

I need to check with Dwayne/Azza which setup did they get, full ecu change or piggy back.

Dwayne and Aza both have Haltech interceptors.

It depends what you want. The Interceptor was simple and easy. The eMU is more complicated but more capable. But this is an old comparison.

I haven't looked at this new range of Haltech ECU's. If they have plug and play for the FTO then this new option is probably going to be better. Personally I'd go with Ben's recommendation, he has more experience and knowledge with the Haltechs.
