Ye, I was thinking about posting it earlier, but didn't. There is a huge thread about this at Skylines Australia...FTO338 wrote:I knew sooner or later someone going to post this here. I hope people won't bad mouth about this here like lots of other forums did.
My deepest condolences to everyone involved, especially the father (Graham).

I hope all of you think deeply before speeding in built up areas, especially with passengers. Take it easy on the roads ppl.

Man, this thing is everywhere.... like pretty much all the car forums...
This thing is pretty big, I wonder what the governments reaction will be, if one at all... Sometimes, I wonder ... ... ... ...
At least some insurance companies are making you do advanced driver training, (even though the driver of R34 had done a number of em).

there has been a string of accedents this week in nsw, many people killed, all young drivers.
There was a big write up on it in the papers over the weekend, and the goverment is looking into a number of possible solutions including
curfue (however you spell it) for young drivers. which i think is ridiculas seeing as most young people work late hours, making it impossible for them to work. Also most younger people are used to beeing awake at later hours and also there is less traffic on the roads making it a safer time to travel.
The other proposal is Young drivers will not be allowed to drive cars with a certain power to rate ratio. which may help i guess, but whats stopping young drivers doing 160kmh in a less powerful car ?

It is a tricky topic. I don't really see what the immedicate connection is between power/weight and doing something really stupid on the roads.
You can go awfully quickly in cars that would not fit that criteria. Of course, it is not as much fun, so the appeal is not there, but you still cannot stop someone from driving a car that they are not supposed to be driving.
I think at the end of the day, education is the key. Not just advanced driver training being made compulsory to own "performance cars", but some education on the fact that every time you are on the roads, there is a chance (albiet small one) that you could be involved in a bad accident. And when you decide to completely ignore all road rules and common sense, you are taking your life and those around you into your own hands.
I do, however, extend my sympathies to the freinds and families of those that died in the accident. A tragedy that has become front page news and the topic of conversation everywhere. Sadly, closure may be a long time coming for their loved ones.

Interestingly enough, it's been shown time and time again, that people who do defensive driving courses in their first few years of driving (ie. on their P's) have more accidents. They get cocky thinking that because they've done a defensive driving course, they can now handle a car better than anyone else on the road and thus take more risks.

i cant help but think we are all going to pay for not just this but all the previous accidents. anyone considered a joint venture of some sort, i dont know what im just writing what comes to me, but the FTO, Skyline, Supra and so on clubs, something to show we do NOT stand by this type of thing and are NOT hoons and what not that the media labels us. i dont know how but i do know that alone we are never going to make the ignorant public see us car enusiasts any different then a menace to society.
( i picture a thousand car cruise of all imports in protest against reckless driving... lol could be done cool in hollywood on the big screen, emotional music, cheering crowds and at the end the world changes its view all at once...yeah right!)

I'm a sinner, yet forgive me nothing. I'm a heathen, but forever free.

i thought there was 1 less LM FTO on the roads... incedently....
OT: My air con pump has siezed and sent a lot of blue smoke out of my engine bay when the belt kept rotating over it... not fun!
come to the city to buy some new rubber and end up working on the damn thing. sigh.

Not as silly as it sounds. It would be good to run an ad in like Fast Fours/Hot 4's/Motor or any other popular car mag pointing this out. Also, it would be a good way of raising public awareness of the club.but the FTO, Skyline, Supra and so on clubs, something to show we do NOT stand by this type of thing and are NOT hoons and what not that the media labels us. i dont know how but i do know that alone we are never going to make the ignorant public see us car enusiasts any different then a menace to society.
