Lol.
Called up Bursons.
"Yeah we have a master and slave cylinder here but we don't know if its going to fit the car since it is an import. $60 and $120 for them" "No we can't cross reference IBS part numbers"

Called up IBS.
"We only sell to business owners mate"
Okaye, can you help me with a part number at least so I can get my mechanic to order it from you
"Only if they have an account with us"
Yeah, so, help me with the part number since I called you and I can sort out if he has an account with you or not
"No man, I can't help you with the part numbers till you have an account with us."
WTF?

:\

Anybody has part number for the Master cylinder? Something I can buy from Repco/Bursons/Supercheap?

Lol! If IBS can be a tool, I can be a smart ass. Called up their NSW office instead of QLD this time, said am calling from Bursons, Waterloo. That our system was down so wanted to confirm a part number. Gave them the slave's number and said. "ah.. just can't remember the one for the master!" and done, got the number from them straight away :)

So for future reference, Master Cylinder part number: IBSJB 7473 :)

FFS!!! $405 to replace the master and slave cylinder and do a clutch fluid flush. 1.5 hrs labour, parts came out to be 60 something and 112 something, so lets count 200 as max parts cost. Wtf is with the remaining 200? Even counting $100 per hour labour doesn't come to that figure.

The price isn't THAT bad though. You didn't have to get dirty or waste your own time changing it.

I was just running a fluids check before my drive to Adelaide Wednesday and my clutch fluid is at minimum
Checked my slave and the rubber boot is full of fluid
Phoned around the local parts shop with the numbers Sidwarrior provided and none in stock :x
Repco can have one for me on Wednesday, but I have to leave at 7:30am........f**k!

May have to phone around local wreckers in the morning and see if they have got a 1.8l CE Lancer manual, don't like my chances though.

Don't have Bursons around where you live? I couldn't find any in Supercheap, they needed to order one in.

True...he had charged the same money when he did the master and slave for the Pajero. The price just stung a tight arse and he vented...normal reaction imo. :P

In Adelaide
I might have to drive the misses car there tomorrow, 2.5hours each way. Then drive the FTO down on Wednesday for my flight.
I will call other auto pro/repco first, 1hour away + another 1.5hours away.
But will try local wreckers too.

EDIT: If I had realised before 2pm today and ordered through Repco, I would have had one tomorrow. But I was busy with the hospital all day.

Can someone find me a tightarse smilie? We need one

So you got $172 on parts, 1.5 hrs labour at about $110 an hour (Yes most mechanics charge around that) so there's $342, then add half a litre of brake fluid, possible surcharge for disposal of old fluid, GST etc. I don't see the issue.
