bigger heads and cams.
not sure if this topic has been discussed but want to know will getting bigger heads (both heads) and cams will it make much difference in terms of power and if so any approximate idea by how much?
had one mechanic that stated around 20kw of extra power while another said i'd be pulling at least 170-180 at the wheels.

i know 170-180 that seems little farfetched however being a mechanic he seemed pretty convinced lol
and any specific reason you state don't?

Re: bigger heads and cams.
Because the only available ones that aren't custom are RPW ones I believe. They're pretty much a prototype and very difficult and expensive to get running properly, if you can even get them set up at all. The cams in the FTO are pretty much as good as they're going to get anyway. It will be an endless money pit and won't be worth the gains. Not worth it and won't be as simple as you reckon.

I don't think it's all quite so bad as that, but yeah, pretty expensive. Valandis seemed happy enough once the cams he got from RPW fit without issue, with the stock cam gears. I've also given it thought, but for the moolah it's not worth it. Maybe later, who knows, haha.

Not worth it. Stockies are good enough.
If you want, port out the heads and do a top end rebuild while youre at it. Screw aftermarket cams

True, true. I'm thinking I'll keep my FTO N/A purist, then boost something else for sh*ts'n'giggles.

Be cheaper to boost. I got quotes on doing FTO heads, was almost 10 grand. 4 grand on cams alone.

Re: bigger heads and cams.
Guess it all depends on how much power you want, eh? And which end drives, and what the car looks like, etc.
I'll just save my pennies and make it a V8. :dreaming:

i always wanted a VR4 since about 2004, i finally had the opportunity to buy one about 3 months before i bought tweety... i sat in it and it was like a time warp, it was a 98 but felt like a 1990... my 95 COTY feels in the same era as my 09 VRX...Daniel2019 wrote:Sell FTO, buy Galant.Bennoz wrote:Be cheaper to boost. Yeah the only problem is their age. Although having said that I don't mind what the interior is like as long as it has aircon and doesn't look like it's from the 70s/80s.SchumieFan wrote:i always wanted a VR4 since about 2004, i finally had the opportunity to buy one about 3 months before i bought tweety... i sat in it and it was like a time warp, it was a 98 but felt like a 1990... my 95 COTY feels in the same era as my 09 VRX...Daniel2019 wrote:Sell FTO, buy Galant.Bennoz wrote:Be cheaper to boost.
