Re: Project FTO Black Hole
indeed it did :p
Question for you actually, how difficult was it to paint your bumper?
getting into the creases etc?
Also, did you use an air compressor? if so, what specs?
I'm trying to decide on painting my bumper...

Re: Project FTO Black Hole
The hardest part of doing the bumper was sanding all the little crevices.
When painting each coat, I painted all the hard to get to spots first then sprayed the open parts of the bumper.
The bumper was the most enjoyable part of the car to paint.
I had it on a stand so I could walk around it while painting.
The compressor I used was a bit too small for the job, I actually killed the little thing during my paint job as I worked it too hard.
The next compressor I would probably buy would be this at a minimum...

or even better, this next one is on special...

Re: Project FTO Black Hole
That first one is pretty much what we have. I just need to sort out an air gun.
Any idea how much paint I may require?
This is our compressor.

Re: Project FTO Black Hole
May consider this... Shouldn't be too expensive.
Recommend any specific gun? or just anything?

This is something like I used and it is on special too...

Some people prefer gravity guns like this one...
http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online ... 0103#Cross
I had never used a gravity gun before, so I just stuck with what I knew.

Re: Project FTO Black Hole
Finally decided that now is a good time to repair the bumper, as I'm not working for the rest of the week, and won't be working until Tuesday.
So on impulse I took the bar off and dropped it off at the shop this afternoon, It should be fixed by Monday

I knew previously that the brackets for the driver's side light had cracked, and they completely disintegrated when I removed the bar, so I'm now on the search for a new headlight....

Re: Project FTO Black Hole
Picked up the new headlight, cost me $125 but I needed it before I get the bumper back.

The new one is the one on the left, it's lens is pretty bad, but I'll clean it up over the weekend.

Re: Project FTO Black Hole
Got the bar back:

Then began prepping it, and attempting to get rid of the spider webbing in the fibreglass...

I then put the pre-facelift bar back on, using the facelift indicators...

Oh and yesterday I polished the headlights, as you can see
It will do for the next few weeks, before something secret happens...

Re: Project FTO Black Hole
Nice work with the bumper, did they use bog or glass?

Re: Project FTO Black Hole
He mostly used fibreglass, cut out the cracked areas and re-glassed them.
Since then I've just been bogging up all the dents etc in the bar. Nearly finished

Re: Project FTO Black Hole
It'll look near perfect when she's painted! Sounds like what I've been doing with the VS; cutting out the cracked pieces and re-glassing, and bogging to a smooth finish

Re: Project FTO Black Hole
Yup, With nick's bar he repaired it himself, but I let a pro do my main fibre-glassing.
Currently it's primered and ready to be painted, when the time comes.
Until then (About a month away) the car is going to stay PFL

Can't wait to see it painted! You should try paint it yourself, white isn't too difficult
