Under car strut brace

Post by HiRAEdd »

Well I guess that's what it's called? Anyway, my car had one which I removed, I've seen pics of this particular one on the net but can't find them at the moment. Basically it fits at 4 points under the engine and holds everything together.
I removed it due to clearence issues with my car being extremely lowered but if your car isn't lowered or you don't drive in areas to be concerned with clearence, then it could be perfect for you. If nothing else it looks really cool if you're under the car :)
Anyway, I'm after expressions of interest and what you're prepared to pay for it. If there is a serious buyer, I'll get it cleaned up and powdercoated to look like new, otherwise I'll give it to the scrap metal dealer.

And I normally do, but this isn't for sale yet as I wasn't even sure that I had it's name right. I just wanted to see if there was any interest in this "thing" I have :)

Then put it in the items for sale area with "EoI" (Expressions of Interest).

Yeah, that's it, except mine is blue at the moment. Not sure how low you can go, mine was lowered a long way with cut springs so too long to have this thing hanging underneath.

Its a front lower arm brace.

Do you know which company made it? If its made by cusco then it won't fit a tip. But if its made by Creative Sports then yes it can fit both manual and tip.

I don't know the brand I'm afraid.
I think I've established there is interest :)
I think the best thing I can do right now is get it cleaned up and take a photo of it. Then if the buyer wants it powder-coated to look like new, I can get that done for a small additional fee seeing as I have access to power-coating workshops.

Stay tuned...

A blue one is mostly likely to be the Cusco one. Cusco only makes the lower arm bar (Version 2) for manual FTOs. But I've always wondered if anyone has trial fit a tiptronic before.

I used to own the Creative Sports version (the red one), and it does make you over-paranoid about going over humps. But if you can get over that, you can definately feel the handling characterictics of the car improved, especially around corners. Point and shoot! And that was with lousy tyres.

The other thing you may want to check is the clearance between the front pipe and the lower arm brace itself. If you have an aftermarket front pipe section, you may find it slightly hitting/grazing the bar itself when the engine is being rev'ed hard. The exhaust flow causes movement in the front pipe.
From FTO to EVO......

It's a blue one so that's probably it :)

Yeah, I'd have to agree. Admittedly, I now have new, slightly softer suspension but before the car cornered like it was on rails. Almost no body roll and I mean almost none!

Yes, this is what I believe I had. I can't be sure given my suspension made more noise than a cat on heat but the brace has been slightly modded to get around this. Hence why I want to post pics of it so everybody knows exactly what it is before forking over any money :)
