eBay Feedback recommendation?

Post by spetz »

Hi guys,

I recently made a purchase on eBay and I am somewhat unhappy with what happened and wondering if I should leave a positive or negative feedback rating.

This is the story:
I inquired about an amp wiring kit ($125)
I said "I want an RCA cable too"
They reply and suggest I purchase a $42 cable.
I say ok.
I buy it, but after just surfing their store, it turns out there was an identical wiring kit + 10 meters speaker cable + the $42 RCA cable for $135 (so $10 more than the kit I bought).
I am angry because when I sent a message about needing an RCA cable, instead of suggesting that kit for just an extra $10, they told me to buy the $42 cable separately.

They are accepting returns, but I have to pay for postage + $8 per item for a restocking fee which makes it not worthwhile.

I feel I have been deliberately misinformed to maximize their profit.
But, the items were received and were as promised.

What are peoples opinions on this?

Did you contact them to ask why they didn't suggest the other package?
I just had to add it ......

Ask them for a $32 refund as this was their suggestion and tell them you may give negative feedback if you are not happy.

I contacted them but I just got an obvious copy/paste response about returns policy.

I am yet to respond to that, but I will outline in simpler terms what my quarel is.

I am tempted to leave negative feedback.
Can they give me negative feedback as a buyer? I have 100% and don't want to ruin that

I would suggest to work out a common compramise, that will make you both happy, before leaving any feedback.
Then decide what to do, maybe leave no feedback at all or give positive feedback with a negative message.

eBay wrote:For each transaction, buyers and sellers can rate each other by leaving Feedback. Each Feedback consists of a positive, negative, or neutral rating, and a short comment.

So I messaged the seller making mention to my disdain for him suggesting I buy a $42 item rather than pay the extra $10 and this is his response:

"If I remember correctly, I had only quoted you for the items you had enquired about.
As a customer, it is your responsibility to find out the best suited products for your application. This assumes that you have read and understood the features and specifications of the product before buying.
The options of returning the item is as previously mentioned below."

You can't do much about it. If he's offering crap customer service just leave negative feedback and ruin his reputation, he can't do anything to yours.

I would leave neg feedback..

Yes it is up to u to browse their products, but his responsibility as a seller is to match a product to your request. He is just greedy..
