Thanks heaps to anyone that can help a fellow FTO owner.
(more information on this unusual fault can be found in the help pages of the forum)

You should be able to read the fault codes and find out what they mean with the MUT-II (which any Mitsubishi dealer should have) and then compare the codes with the ones in the manual. (Can be downloaded from the net)
I also saw somewhere on the net a walkthrew to xtract ecu codes without a MUT II (cant remember where though)

Ummm......
Don't think there are many MUT-II equiped Mitsu dealers up at the Whitsundays folks...........nearest one would be at Rocky?
You could always check the error codes as stated under the workshop section of www.ftowa.com and see what the ECU spits out.
Alternatively I have a early model R-Spec MIVEC controller that will plug straight into the ECU and read the engines RPM from the ECU, I don't really have much need of it so can give it to you for a good price.
As for a new ECU you could try Rik and Joes (www.nihoncarparts.com.au)on the Gold Coast, they will know where to get a replacement one from if they don't have one in stock themselves.
Cheers
Chris
