Fitting facelift to prefacelift - info for shop
At the moment I'm thinking of replacing my damaged prefacelift bar with either a standard facelift or the factory Ts. I know that the rheo fits both, but are there any things in particular that I should tell the crash repairers who end up doing the job? I won't be using foglights, only the indicators.
Since it's not a straight off and on job, I'd like to give them a heads up if I can.

The Indicators dont bolt into the rheo because it isnt designed for it. Hence why i just sikaflexed my indicators to the bar.
You could make a bracket to bolt the indicators to the rheo a few have done it.

Actually, the indicators fit perfectly as they attach to the bar itself. Its the fogs that dont fit. This is unless you follow the latest ADR guidelines which means you are supposed to reverse them. Given your FTO is probably under the old compliance guidelines though, you should not have to go to that trouble. If you grab the TS Factory, you just need to drill 4 pilot holes for the screws for the indicators. Other than that, straight bolt up.
On another note, by going from pre-facelift to facelift, you lose parkers. Have you thought how you are going to tackle that one? (some people ignore it)

The pilot screws go into the bar, yes?
Which ones are the parkers?
I recall hearing about them, but I'm still not sure where they're located.

Yep, pilot holes only for TS factory (bar out of mould doesnt come pre drilled - 20 seconds ). Obviously, stock facelift already has them.
Parkers are in the oval indicator/parker/foglight combo unit on your prefacelift. On the facelift, they are in the headlights. Thus, when going from prefacelift to facelift, you need to think about what you are going to do for parkers. You can get facelift headlights, or rig something up, or ignore them (but will need to do something for rego). Technically, you could use the foglight holes for parkers. The VW units technisaurus found are pretty decent looking things. Dont know whether you could say the angel eyes are parkers?

Stupid question(s), what do the parkers do? When are they on? Why are they needed for rego?

If a headlight globe goes out, parkers are there as a secondary means to indicate the width of a vehicle so it does not appear as a bike.

Could the angel eyes wire to the parkers?

Yes, they can wire to anything really ...bjk wrote:Could the angel eyes wire to the parkers?

Re: Fitting facelift to prefacelift - info for shop
Would there be a kind of light for parkers that could attach to the bar like the indicators do?

Could just drill a hole into your highbeam lense and sikaflex a bulb holder into the back and it would be pretty much the same as a stock facelift parker.

Would the fogs function as the parkers in that case then? Do you have the actual lights themselves at all?Sahin wrote:I have for sale a pre facelift rheo with facelift foglight brackets

Yeah I have the lights themselves too but they are just foglights and don't have an angel eye in them
