Wheels are on their way! Looking forward to throwing the car around the hills after all these upgrades. Rear strut, new rotors, new pads, new wheels, new tyres.

On the topic of tyres, I think I need to book in a wheel alignment. For like, probably a few months ago. Either that or the last few hills runs have done damage. The front right is looking a little flat in the middle, but the left is much worse, about 3/4 of the way across from the inside.

Next up, BJK's "How to use your tyres in 10,000 kms".

By "worn" I mean getting on the rather bald side. I know it's a sport tyre, but it shouldn't be as bad as it is. On one side. Reckon one of the many bumps along the way is probably the cause, but I wouldn't know.

The good things that happened tonight. Rotors, pads, and a brake fluid bleed.

The bad:

The upsides to the bad things are no chassis damage, headlight bulbs intact and the fact it still drives and runs fine.

Started raining while on the way to do said good things. Then it started raining harder, till even the wiper on the fullest setting was still not helping visibility much at all. Then the rain got bigger, and then it turning into m*therf*cking hail. I considered driving through it, but partway down the street I was on I thought it might be best to wait it out and get some cover. Started to turn, no traction whatsoever, rear ended a parked Colt. F*ck.

Fortunately it didn't seem to be a lot of damage to the other vehicle, as I was travelling moderately slowly at the time. Left a note in the form of an entire notepad which fortunately had a plastic cover so that the entire thing didn't get soaked. Car I hit belongs to this guys wife. He was really understanding about the whole thing which made the situation a million times easier though still painful. Started a claim on the afterhours service for my insurance, and will be sorting out the rest come monday...

Whoo. :suicide:

Chin up mate, live and learn. Could have been a lot worse from the sounds of things, and I dare say that the car doesn't look too bad.

Excuse for a new front bar and headlight! :D

Edit: the bar doesn't even look that bent? Did you straighten it back out or is that just how it ended up?
I fix cars.

It is fairly mild, especially considering the results of the last accident I was in. Just sh*t is all, and it's the second time it's happened after I already spent money on a car.

Yeah, I'm thinking I might try to see if I can pick up a facelift or maybemaybe Dstocks bar, insurance allowing.

And that's how it came. Where it hit is "tucked" under a bit, but there's still enough clearance from the front of the wheel so that it doesn't scrub at all.

You seem to be very unlucky yet very lucky with this. Good to know everyone is alright.

Onwards and upwards!

This statement is my f*cking life.

Either things go to sh*t but end up being okay.

Or things that should be fine go to sh*t.

Bloody hail. Can be like driving on marbles. Actually thats not as bad as I imagined. From the pics, looks like headlight, bumper, LH bumper support and maybe also the guard is slightly damaged as well (or is that just the pic). You should also check aircon and window washer. Doesnt look like it would have damaged the condensor, but worth a check. Window washer bottle is under that corner.

If you need parts, I have headlight, silver guard and front bar and the LH rheo if you need it (although yours can probably be straightened out). Also have a silver bonnet, but it doesnt look like it touched that.

Also, before you lodge a claim, whats your excess. You may be able to repair that yourself for less (although I guess im not taking into account the other car).

Driving on marbles about sums it up. So very, very skittish under the tyres.

Kiz and vipfto have a headlight here that I can apparently buy off them. The bar and guard seemed salvageable to them, but I may yet see if I can upgrade at the same time. Who knows, perhaps it will be easier to say that I can give the panel beaters an undamaged bar (aside from surface perhaps) instead of trying to straighten out this one. I don't know how hard or easy that is though.

My excess is $1100. An unhappy amount of money, but yeah, I've got to cover the other car as well. The guy said the damage to their car wasn't that bad. After I hit it, I pulled the guard back away from the tyre but nothing else. But I think it's going to be stretching it to do it on my own, maybe. I really don't know at this stage.

At least the damage isn't too bad.

Issue is the time to have it repaired now. :?

Yeah, working every weekday is not conducive to that particularly. Advantage is, as mentioned, still driveable. So worst comes to worst, I get it inspected whenever insurance gets to it, and hopefully get it done over a weekend if anyone does that.

Silver linings I guess? (bad, unintentional puns). Got them a day early apparently, they were only meant to be delivered tomorrow, but the delivery guy said his boss just said to drop them off today.
