Uas kit installation

So the uas uni filter on my kit needs to be replaced. And it looks like a 6 inch fit. My 4 inch filter is too long to fit on the metal bracket and extend to the side of the car. How did you guys manage to fit in a k&n in the kit? I know I can fit the k&n pod without the bracket, but that means I can't use the box either....and I don't want that. So, any tips/pics of how you have installed the uas kit would be helpful. Thanks

It depends on the K&N filter you have. I have a 4"x9" K&N filter and it just barely fits. My filter has a soft neck, so I had to use a small piece of 4" stainless pipe in between the intake pipe and filter. I will post some of my pics from when I installed it later tonight.

That works too. I got my stainless pipe for free, so I used that.

erm.... could you post some pictures please...I want to see how you use it's clamp/reducer thingy. The steel funnel like thing which is 6 inch one end and 4 inch the other.

You don't use the funnel, that is part of the Uni Filter I believe and reduces down to 3"

You can't really see the stainless pipe in the first two photos, but it just attaches the filter to the intake pipe.

I suppose it doesn't matter that the filter has an end like that when you have the snorkel from the front bar?

Where air doesn't get in the very end, but around the 'sides' as opposed to the HKS foam thing for example.

ed: I have this odd idea that if an end like that was pointed directly at the airflow, it would be less efficient?? Correct me if I'm misunderstanding how they work.

My pod filter has an inverted cone filter in it's end, as well as the filter around the sides.

The end of my filter is plastic and closed off. You can get ones like Phil has said that are open at the end.

It doesn't really matter. The air will get sucked in anyway. Just position the CAI towards the open parts of the filter.

Wouldn't that change in size actually increase the velocity of the air through the pipe?

Best way is to put the UAS pipe in a box with some foam and mail it to Daniel2019's house.

The UAS pipe is actually one large 4" to 3" reducer, so reducing at the 4" part of the pipe dampens that effect.

this is mine:
(Just clamped them together, used a K&N 4" pod on the end (it's one helluva pod - had to slightly trim the UAS pipe to fit it in. Even now it fits extremely snug)
