Re: Jerry's Ride (Vanadinite)
Im hoping that the forum can shed some light on my current issue.
The issue has arisen with the installation of the replacement gearbox/drivshaft setup.
When i accelerate it vibrates like mad, when i get to speed it disappears and it only happens on acceleration and a little bit on deceleration.
When i put the driveshafts together my left outer CV Joint was pretty close to being rooted and im suspecting its the culprit. Ive tried the usual test methods like turning a circle etc and there are no noises. Also when i engage reverse there is a slight clunking noise as i begin to move but if i stop and reverse again it doesn't happen, only happens if I've gone from going forward to the first initial reversing.
Can an outer CV joint cause such problems?
Also the cv kit on ebay is non abs only and the guy says he doesnt have any abs model, is it possible to put my abs rings on these joints? I've transplanted abs rings before but im not sure if these aftermarket joints are able to do the same thing.
Cheers

Re: Jerry's Ride (Vanadinite)
The abs ring is removable and fits on the new cv joint. They have a tendency to crack so be gentle.
As for your vibration issues, for the price of a cv joint id start there but they need to be pretty rooted to do that. Did you make sure the cv was fully over the snap ring on the shaft when you assembled them?

Re: Jerry's Ride (Vanadinite)
When my CV's went there was no noise turning full lock, but there was a click noise when first taking off and a click noise if I took my foot off of the accelerator and put it back on again.
I worked out it was the CV's by the amount of free play they had when I got under the car.
I took mine to GODBENNOZs' drive shaft guy, he did a great job too.

Re: Jerry's Ride (Vanadinite)
PHIL069, was your issue the inner or outer cv?? and how much play were you experiencing?
I ordered new outer CV's today as they need replacing regardless because their cactus. Hopefully that fixes all my issues.
Im hoping that the inner cv joints aren't the problem because I've been told they cant be rebuilt or ordered new and their hard to come by.
