Mates old corolla seca has issues with the idle.. I thought it could be a vacuum leak or something, until we figured out that whenever the steering wheel is being turned, the idle gets lower the more it gets turned. At full lock the car's RPM goes to 0 and the car turns off. It's only when the wheel is being turned which is why I thought it was odd.
Power steering pump is rooted/system leak/hole was my guess.. what else could it be? There is a small power steering leak, but how does that effect the RPM of the car?

Re: Corolla RPM issues
Because of the load on the power steering belt being too great and the engine has to work too hard to keep the belt turning?
