CAR ALARMS: MANNIX & PYLE

Post by SimonSez »

Hi,

I am looking to get an alarm system place into my FTO, which currently has an immobiliser fitted already...I was wondering if any members have ever used or has one of the following 2 alarm systems? If so, how well does this system do its job? and is it Aust. standards? How do u check if it is?

MANNIX TWO-WAY LCD ADVANCE CAR ALARM SYSTEM

MODEL NO: SM-700

Pyle PWD501 2-Way Vehicle Security System with LCD Transmitter & REMOTE START

thanks

Have you tried alarms from overseas? like the US, or Russia... cos you man find that with LCD alarms you get very good alarms from there that are better and that are cheaper...

My 2 cents...

most of them will not meet australian standards which means your insurance company will not cover you if your car gets stolen and they require an Australian Standards Alarm.

you'd have to check and see if the alarm meets an ISO standard and whether or not your insurance company will accept alarms that meet that standard....

their websites (or via email they can tell you) which ISO standards their alarms meet... armed with this knowledge you ring your insurance company and say...

"hi i was going to buy an this alarm (xyz) its not an australian alarm but it meets ISO 900(x) is this ok?"

Customer service person reading off a script: "no sorry it must meet australian standard xxx"

"Oh ok"

how to find out whether its 2 / 3 point immob... ummm you cant really unless you know the model number of your alarm... that sort of thing isn't printed anywhere.
