So a couple of months ago my fto stalled going down the highway, check engine light came on and no fuel was coming through. 5 minutes later it started back up again and ran fine for a few days, then it happened again and started getting more frequent, now I can't even drive for 5 minutes straight without it happening. Sometimes it just cuts the fuel for an instance and runs fine again, and sometimes the light doesn't come on. I've emptied and cleaned out the tank with a rag, changed fuel filter, fuel pump, spark plugs and used fuel cleaner, still no luck. It happens most frequently at high speeds, sometimes starts really slow - so I thought it was the fuel pump failing but apparently not. Is there a sensor that is turning my fuel pump off, or does anyone have any ideas on what it could be?
It may not be a fuel problem per say.
Does it only happen when engine gets to running temperature?
Not when engine is cold.
It is more likely to be an electrical problem related to car getting to running temperature and a sensor failing.
If a sensor fails it could tell the ecu to turn off both fuel and spark.
When the sensor cools down again the system resets.
I had that problem many years ago changed the sensor and all OK.
Cant remember what sensor though.
There are much smarter people here than me. Im sure someone will set you right
Good Luck

So out of the 3 mechanics in town that will touch a jap import, only one has the scanner to check error codes on an fto - but said that he'll pass. Looks like I'm sh*t outta luck

Bennoz wrote:Yeah. The one bolted right in the middle of the bulkhead, directly behind the engine. Vac line may have come off, or at the other end (throttle body.)
You mean back of manifold, not throttle body.
