Just spent the day in the hospital
My son broke his arm and I just spent the whole day in the hospital waiting...... The amount of red tape is ridiculous. I cant believe how difficult they have to make a simple procedure (spent time in 5 different rooms and they even forgot where they put us once). There was a time when this would have taken a half hour to sort. But now......

Hope he is ok, hurts like hell I would assume. I've spent 24 hours in emergency before just waiting for a timeslot in the operating theatre.

Re: Just spent the day in the hospital
I remember the last bone i broke was my collar bone. 2 hours of waiting (which back then was ridiculous) and then 30min of being seen and dealt with, and walked out in a sling 2 1/2 hours later all dealt with.
Guess with all the suing these days there has to be a certain level of red tape.

He's OK, he wasnt really complaining about the pain. He actually broke it on Thursday while staying with friends. They thought it was a sprain. He was running for the ice cream van and tripped (it was about to leave).

Possibly the greatest reason for an injury I have ever heard.dstocks wrote:He's OK, he wasnt really complaining about the pain. He actually broke it on Thursday while staying with friends. They thought it was a sprain. He was running for the ice cream van and tripped (it was about to leave).
Hope he isnt in too much discomfort for the next few weeks/months. Was it a bad break?
Also hope that he got an ice-cream eventually.

Did he get the ice cream though?
Yeah, the public health system is ridiculous.
I was treated like an OD drug taker when I went in once with food poisoning.
And another with food poisoning, I could barely comprehend anything, apparently a staff hand slapped me when I wouldn't answer her.
My wife was 2 footsteps away from giving her a colonoscopy with her shoe.

Re: Just spent the day in the hospital
You dont actually think the broken arm stopped him from reaching the ice cream van do you.....Also hope that he got an ice-cream eventually.
Lol, thats pretty much how I pictured it (wasnt there when it happened).PHIL069 wrote:
Dont get me started. They put paperwork and protecting their butt above actually caring for people. My wife did her back on Friday. She was lying on the floor in the longeroom pretty much unable to move while I was down in Canberra at the hospital (they refused to fix it at Batemans Bay). I needed to get out of there so I could get back home to take care of my wife. Given I arrived at in Canberra at 11am, what time do you think I finally got home to look after my wife....... 10pm. I was soooooo close to just lifting up my son and walking out and screw their paperworkYeah, the public health system is ridiculous.
