We're still dealing with our fires down here. Over 100 homes lost since last week and hundred of thousands of acres of property lost. Still parts that are out of control.

He is on a property.. Doesn't have mains power... Just Solar and Diesel Generator...
I could only imagine air con would chew through both of those way too fast...

And to answer the earlier question. The fires can last weeks without being able to be controlled. Particularly if they are in mountainous country.

Just throwing it out there:
http://www.treehugger.com/sustainable-p ... -soon.html
http://www.australiansunenergy.com.au/s ... oning.html
have actually thought about this before, hot = sun, sun = solar power...
A pretty big investment, but might be worth it. Maybe just install a very efficient aircon to one bedroom/study, and lock yourself in there when it hits 37 degrees + .... and charge the wife admission? lol

Re: I wish I had aircon.....
We actually have a heat-exchange style water heater at home that pumps out nice cold air. Have thought about plumbing the air outlet into the house for a while now, so after this heat-wave I think it's going to be a definite
Possibly a solution for you as well dwayne? or you on roof-mounted solar water heaters?

I think sitting in a bath of ice might be more effective.
