lol Did you check the choke plate and the spring connecting to it? Common problem of them getting stuck with crap or rust so the plate never closes. Also, since it's an auto choke, should check the heating unit for the spring, if it's actually getting any voltage to operate.

Choke plate is the big metal plate which opens and closes to control the air flow, it should have a spring attached to it, and the spring should have a heating unit with connectors to send volt to it to heat it up.
What's the carburetor in the car? Make and model, maybe we can find an exploded view and workshop doc for it.

I have never worked on auto choke carbs or CV, mostly Mikuni round slide carbs, but the basic principle is still the same; choke the air by closing the valve to create a vacuum inside the body to draw in more fuel and make the mixture rich for helping with cold start, once the engine starts, gradually make the mixture lean.

In auto chokes the ignition should send some current to the heating unit connected to the valve's spring to operate it. If the auto choke isn't working during cold start, that would mean the choke valve isn't closing to make the mixture rich inside the carb's body. It would either be the valve spring at fault, or the heating unit. Rusty/dirty springs and the valve plate, bad connections for the heating unit are relatively easy fix as they just need some cleaning, but check if you need to replace the whole heating unit or valve and spring assembly. Replacing the carb and getting a new one would sometimes be cheaper than finding exact parts for an existing carb.

It used to be before i started it if i pushed my foot down once on the accelerator it would set it and would fire up when i turned the key, but now it takes two attempts to start and doesnt build up the revs slowly like it used to.

Pump the accelerator instead of keeping it pressed while starting it. After starting does the car idle at high revs straight away?

Remember when I said every rubber component on the car needed replacing after 15 years? Well I did replace everything... except for the valve stem seals

The rubber had disintegrated on them & the little springs around the collars of them started getting getting jammed up in the valve springs while it was running. So.... I had to pull the head off & get it serviced lol.

It's back on now though They couldn't match up the paint real well though They no longer manufacture half the tinters that were in the original paint anymore!
