Re: Can someone help identify Maloo issue - video here
Had a look at HSV WA and it's $100 to join! Managed to email one of the committee members but to be honest not expecting a lot back - would be great if it turned something up though. The dealer are their main sponsor too!
Will see what other commodore forums there are out there.

We're paying for independent inspection now.
What do you make of this?

It was under the car after being towed away, quite squidgy.

Well it was definately oil based (well smelled like it) so I presumed it had fallen out of the bottom of the car but maybe the car ate something.

Looks like a chewed up rod to me, with maybe some block on it. Sorta like a mechanical Cordon bleu.

Re: Can someone help identify Maloo issue - video here
The problem with the maloo is so common on LS V8's its not funny. Google LS1 oil consumption problem or LS1 oval bores or common problems. My theory is the previous owner knew the engine was chewing through the oil, and it was only a matter of time a new engine was needed and sold it.
I have had several mates with the same problem and new engines were put in. Has it lost power yet? Once the power starts dropping off that's the end!!

Maybe it had lost power - didn't output any more than standard even though it had extractors, full exhaust and OTR intake when he bought it - so maybe it had lost some and that little lot only made it back to standard.
Only 73000 on the clock.
Still no resolution to this and were waiting for department of commerce to finish investigating, so far it all boils down to the fried clutch - dealer using this to point the finger at my Son.

looks like a bunch of silastik or rubber that has been through the engine and been pooped out the side :/Rob Furniss wrote:We're paying for independent inspection now.
