10k for an engine conversion? 8O
You can get a mint condition Version R for that price...

I'd say go to a different mechanic.

Quoted by RPW in Perth, they said evo engine, cause legnum engine to hard to get put in?..

I tried so many but most of them don't do engine conversions.

Found a 6a13 for $1500 but still no idea where to get it put in if i buy it.

There is no real point putting that much money into an FTO. You can get an Evo 7 if you sell your car and put in 10k, and end up with a much better car.

How come you're looking at a different engine if it's just an oil leak?

First off is engine is high kms I done lots of work to my fto and looking to do more so don't really want to sell it, and if oil leak gonna be expensive to fix rather get a new engine with more power :) if you know what I mean

Not really worth dropping in something that is significantly more expensive than a standard 6A12 unless it's your dream car and you plan to keep it for a long time.

Only you can make that decision.
Make a list of good and bad.

Good
1. Hot fast FTO
2. Unique FTO
3.

Bad
1. Lots of cash
2. Could buy different car
3. Could spend cash on hookers and coke
4.

I thought hookers and coke came with fto's D:

Yeah I think I just gonna get it fixed and extractors and save up for another car later down the track so you won't be rid of me from these fourms anytime soon ;)

Re: Engine Convertsion vs Fix Oil Leak

Hi Steven,

there are a range of options to install an evo engine into your FTO. For starters i would be purchasing an evo 6 or evo 7
engine and mating it to the FTO gearbox, maybe a different bellhousing will need to be purchased but i wont be able to
tell until i have all parts in front of me, not a drama anyway. The Best way to do it would be to put an aftermarket ECU on
the car while in the process of the conversion as it simplifies the wiring and you don't have messy pieces of harness bunched
up that where once used when the engine was in the ecu, then the intercooler, exhaust, mounting, fuel system etc. Then
you will be out the door with a very fast FTO that you can stick on the dyno at any time.

A rough estimate would go as follows

engine $3000
exhaust $2000
intercooler and piping $1500
fuel system $600
ecu $2300
wiring $1500
mounting, additional misc $1000

This is allowing stainless steel exhaust and intercooler pipes to be fabricated including dump pipe and catalytic convertor,
ecu would be the latest model haltech and all other pieces and components would be top quality, we are in the habit of
building cars right the first time and don't take short cuts.

I hope this answers your question and if there is anything I can answer for you don't hesitate to contact me in the future.

Kind Regards

Michael

I'd say he would have prices high like that to allow for leeway that's my guess
EDIT: But then again it's chump change compared to bennoz's monster
gotta get there one day :)
