Dying the Headliner
So after installing my seats and the everything in the cabin being either black or carbon fibre, my headliner looks really out of place being such a light shade.
My question is - can you simply dye it or get it re-trimmed easily/cheap enough? Would want to go a black to keep the 'theme' i seem to be having.
has anyone done this before and can recommend a place/product in brisbane?
Cheers

Re: Dying the Headliner
You can get fabric/ trim colouring in a spray can I think, just spray on like you would do any other part of the car.

Re: Dying the Headliner
I like the look of the stock headliner i guess - nice and simple its just the color im not a fan of, all black/cf interior apart from the beige headliner.
Ill give that stuff aza linked a go - luckily i have a spare headliner in case something goes wrong

Re: Dying the Headliner
I have checked some YouTube vids in this stuff and looks good. It soaked into the fabric not coat it, so it should look stock after its done.

It's a little bit saggy as i didnt have right glues to stick it on to ceiling.
but its quite light, so u can actually glue them on the ceiling i think?

Re: Dying the Headliner
Can't you just go to a fabric shop and put the material on yourself? Seems like an easy job.

Re: Dying the Headliner
Adding material though can have all kinds of problems, like the fabric coming loose over time or adding enough thickness to it that it doesnt sit right etc.-Nighthawk- wrote:Can't you just go to a fabric shop and put the material on yourself? Seems like an easy job.
Its also much easier just to dye (or in this case it seems like spray) it instead

Re: Dying the Headliner
I used the spray stuff on an older car of mine. Also used the vynal version. Changed the whole car interior from 80's blue to black. Looked good and stayed that way till the car was written off..
RIP Nissan-Datsun Pulsar.. Lolz..
Taz, have you thought about 're-trimming in black seued? It is a thin material that spray adhesive will keep in place.
Also, if you do go black, remember more heat will stay in the car..

I talk a lot of sh*t, usually have to keep a roll of toilet paper handy in the car for my mouth

Re: Dying the Headliner
So a little update on this whole fabric dye spray etc... If it works on a headliner, would it work on seats? My rear seats have faded so much with time that they have gone from black to blue
I know a re-trim costs in excess of $500 for the rear seat (previous car) and I'd rather not spend that again

Yes it works on pretty much any fabric, including seats.

Re: Dying the Headliner
...I might give my seats a go. The blue looks absolutely awful! I'll post pics of how bad the blue is sometime soon...

Re: Dying the Headliner
Or just get the fake leather covers for about 500 for all the seats...
