FTO Racing SMP Oct 20-21
FTO Racing SMP Oct 20-21
We're off to SMP (Sydney Motorsport Park, previously known as Eastern Creek) racing next weekend!
Don't know if the car is fixed yet or not but I'm getting bored and entry for this one was cheap
This is a single day race meet (Sunday) with practice on the Saturday. Only four categories running (HQ's, SuperSports, SuperKarts & us), that makes us very much the headline act lol.
Not expecting a big field, but there are already some exotics entered in our class, including;
LAMBORGHINI GALLARDO 2008
Porsche 997 Cup Car 2006
Roaring Forties GT 40 2008
Chevy Corvette 2007
And of course the usual array of Lotus Elise's and MX5's
Saturday is free entry. Sunday is $10. Would be great to see some FTO support on the hill coming around turn 2

Re: FTO Racing SMP Oct 20-21
No offence Taz, but you think you're going to get close to 1:30 laptimes at SMP by running a 4G. Try adding $50-100K on top for brakes, suspension, setup, lightweighting, strengthening and replacing everything that starts breaking once you start putting the loads on the car that you will need to to get anywhere near those times. Plus allow thousands per event just to run it for tyres and other consumables.
But good luck with it all the same, if you ever want any advice or want to come out and have a look feel free
And unfortunately I can't run a 4G or any other motor, or turbo charge the 6A12, even if I wanted to, as I race to a set of regs that doesn't allow it

not expecting anywhere near 1:30, or a 1:40 for that matter - the fastest WTAC cars in the world with hundreds of thousands of dollars invested in them struggle to get those times with a decent driver...

It must be a strange scenario when a gen-Y has to look up a meme they don't know.

Re: FTO Racing SMP Oct 20-21
Don't think I'll be doing a single day event again, simply too much in one day, was completely exhausted by Sunday evening
Still got the same engine problem, so just pushed as hard as I could but was clearly down on power. I'm almost certain it's the rocker piston. Hoping to pull the top of the engine apart over the next couple of weeks and replace this one rocker to confirm.
Also had fuel pump problems. Looks like my walbro high pressure pump is dying. Swapped it out Saturday afternoon for my stock spare and all good again. Now just need to find my receipt for the walbro and see if it's still under warranty.
So how did we go? Class win! one of only 2 cars in class lol

White MX-5. He was actually a couple of seconds a lap faster than me but I had a slight edge on him on the straights. Race 2 & 3 I got the jump on him at the start and from there stayed firm on racing line and he just didn't quite have enough in the corners to get past
