Steering wheel re-stitching
Hey
So my steering wheel has always had a tiny bit of the outer layer worn off it from the previous owner, and ive always just covered it up with some grip tape - but lately i cannot source it and want to get back the original steering wheel as i have to replace the tape every few months as it starts to fray.
My question is can the facelift momo wheel be restitched? It has the stiches on the inside which suggest some kind of cover comes off of it but then again it might be for show - has anyone looked into this?
If not then i would be looking into getting another stock wheel.

Re: Steering wheel re-stitching
There is a place that can do it. Was a thread on here recently I believe for someone.
Meanwhile, the pattern of the stitch is hard to replicate, so it will never look factory.
But will be better than a worn away pos.

Sounds about right.rock_it wrote:My mate is an auto trimmer.. At last conversation close to $500. As it has to be hand stitched..
Mine came up somewhere near that for the Merc.
In the end, I can buy a complete replacement steering wheel with woodgrain inserts for the same price.
Guess which I opted for.

Re: Steering wheel re-stitching
With prices like that, I'd just ditch the stock wheel and go for a Momo or something

Re: Steering wheel re-stitching
I messaged that guy a few months back, he can do it just like that, but he requires your wheel for about a week...
And I'd love to get a new Momo or something, but I would require an engineers cert to remove the airbag

Re: Steering wheel re-stitching
Just got an email back today, will be $200 (an extra 10 for the grip on the sides) so mine will look exactly like that picture in the thread posted up
