Straight pipe
Hey everyone
I was just wondering if anyone has put a straight pipe on their FTO. If you have then how does it sound and have u gotten any significant power gains out of it?
Kind regards Mike

Re: Straight pipe
I'll be testing this on the race car soon, mainly because I'm sick of having the quietest car on the race track when I race
I don't know whether I will see power gains or power losses. A lack of back pressure may actually equate to a loss of power. Only way to know for sure is to test

Re: Straight pipe
the loud-ness depends on the muffler/piping size/silencer/resonator.MikeFTO wrote:so it would attract a lot of attention from the cops? does it sound good just on the stock exhaust when you straight pipe it? do you know of any place where i could find a video of it?aza013 wrote:It sounds great but to high on the db's for street use.

but what's your point of going straight piping but using back the stock restrictive muffler?
if you're afraid of cops then don't touch anything on your exhaust, coz the loud-ness on the stock exhaust is rated at 89db at 5000rpm or so.
legal/allowable loud-ness = 90db , anything more = defect!

Re: Straight pipe
there is no real power gain or loss tested on the dyno anyway.Shane001 wrote:I'll be testing this on the race car soon, mainly because I'm sick of having the quietest car on the race track when I race![]()

Re: Straight pipe
PS: When I talk straight pipe, I'm talking extractors, no cat, no muffler, no resonator, staight unobstructed pipe to a side exit

Yep, don't care if I see no power gains, as long as I don't lose power.aza013 wrote:there is no real power gain or loss tested on the dyno anyway.
Just makes a Fing good sound.
I'm just looking forward to having a race car that sounds like a f**king racecar

Re: Straight pipe
All I've done on mine is remove the cat, and a small sausage resonator near the rear, and it's pretty damn loud...
The limit here I believe is 100db, and i'm worried that I may be over that....
it sounds damn nice though

Pretty sue the limit is 90db.
You can also use an Evo fuel tank and have a completely straight exhaust
