Crackly Speaker
Front left is crackly now. Its a pioneer speaker that came with the car, doesnt look too old, not sure of exact model/etc. I havent been listening to music too loud (25 out of 35 volume is the highest I ever go on a 50w x 4 kenwood head unit) nor did I hear anything rip, crack or anything like that. Seemed to be fine the day before yesterday, only noticed it last night. They've been fine lately so I'm a bit confused.
My question is - what could have caused it to start crackling? Its only my front left speaker that has a problem. Dont really wanna fork out $150+ for some new speakers if I dont need to. Wires are all connected firmly.

Re: Crackly Speaker
maybe just faulty.. and considering its one speaker, most likely not a power load issue otherwise both would prob go.
no point tryin to get it fixed too, cause itl cost u more then its worth
jst buy new ones lol 100 will get u half decent ones... no point recommending u 'good' speakers , cause one u dont crank it, two, youre not amping them

Re: Crackly Speaker
Im picky about sound quality and, to an extent, volume. I do have my music somewhat loud (25 out of 35 max is still pretty damn loud). But correct, I won't be amping them. Next set that I'll be getting will be Kicker KS series (I think it was KS - Phil recommended them)phi-tec wrote:maybe just faulty.. and considering its one speaker, most likely not a power load issue otherwise both would prob go.

Could it be a wire from my head unit? The ones at the speaker end are fine. Im just confused because it was working fine two days ago, then the next time I got into the car it was crackly.

Re: Crackly Speaker
Ill do that on the weekend and test. The rear left one now seems to be a bit off, which I didnt notice before, so me thinks its a problem with the wiring at the back of my head unit.

Re: Crackly Speaker
Yes, test swap.
Also a bad connection can definiatly cause a crackling sound coming through.
Is it only through the radio or when playing CD's too. Does it crackle when the engine is running and also engine off with just the acc on?

Phil - always. Although its hard to tell between AUX and radio because my radio gets bad signal. Im going to double check my wires again on the weekend and see whats going on behind the head unit. Cheers guys.

Re: Crackly Speaker
but the jack in the head unit might be toast, just do a quick CD check, eliminate it now rather than find out later thats the problemDaniel2019 wrote:Cable is fine, ive tested two different ones, and my main one also worked fine with a home theatre system.phi-tec wrote:uh test a cd, aux cables always fk up.. quite easily too
