Noises at the rear

Post by nikhan »

Happens when I make turnings at a higher speed. Comes from the rear. think of the sound like there is a loose nut in my boot. And yes I did pop the boot open to check but nothing in there that's loose. Even lifted up the board to check the spare tyres. Seems to be coming from the rear wheels. Soesnt happen when I make a turn at 40kmh though..its always above that when I turn left or right. Any ideas? CV shafts, ball bearings???

Take every thing out of the boot before going for a drive, that will eliminate that side of things.

If it actually isnt something loose in the boot, then i have my money on a noisy bush or wheel bearings - if its inside, i got my money on the antenna box (which is located in the left hand side of the boot, right under the aerial, should be behind the panel)

My bet is sway bar bush/es or exhaust mounting rubbers.

Doubt its your bearings! I would get under your car with a pry bar and check all the joints for play. Grab a hold of your shock and check theres no play in the strut mount.

Jack your car up til the back wheels are off the ground
Spin the wheels by hand and you will know if it's your bearing or not

You'll heard wheel bearing before you see them. They hum rather annoyingly.
