Timing Belt Question
Just want to know if the timing belt in my 96 Gr lasts for 100k kms or if its a 120k belt?
Mechanic told me to look up in my manual if i have the original but i don't and the manual i was given is missing a few chapters.

Re: Timing Belt Question
It'll go further if you've looked after it. I did my last one at 120k

Re: Timing Belt Question
Its not just kms on the belt it's also time. It's 100k or 6 years inst it? I know after 140k on a belt it starts to get cracks that goes half way through the belt

Re: Timing Belt Question
140k ay..... yeah i want to avoid cracks happening because its going to cost a lot more. And since its an import perhaps the km's were rolled back. If so i should change it before 100k or so.

Re: Timing Belt Question
That is true but not to timing belt issue. Engines done 260k and refuse to spend 4k for a rebuildBennoz wrote:And you're looking for a new engine at the moment, yes?FTO-BOY wrote:i changed mine after 160

Re: Timing Belt Question
I recommend you taking the plastic covers off and examine the belt closely by eye.
Reason being that the intervals are 100,000km or 5 years whichever comes first, and additionally it's likely the car would have been clocked
