Error code 61 - A/T ecu

Post by Taz »

So today taiwo brought his car over to assess his limp mode situation - i managed to extract the 61 'engine' code which is "61 Communications wire with A/T-ECU"
I also managed to get what is hopefully an unrelated TCL error code out - which is reading as 14 (which has to be wrong as there is no code 14 for the TCL) It was flashing 1 long, 4 short (TCL light) - any ideas?

With the A/T wire- ECU i would assume this is just a failure of the wire itself, which will be a simple case of checking it/fixing it up to connect properly?
Has anyone else come across this one before?

Copied this from engine workshop manual......
You can look up connection numbers in the electrical manual

Cheers phil,
Yea almost as soon as i wrote this post i thought hey maybe its in the manual of exactly what to expect to do.
Matt has his workshop manuals printed out here in binders too - was just curious if this was a problem seen before or not and the best way to tackle it.

The TCL light as i said came on as well - so im thinking it may be a TCL ECU malfunction (the harness and the ECU seem fine from initial inspection doesnt look like its a cable fault) Would this throw it into limp mode?

Does anyone have a TCL ECU i could borrow for an hour to check if that is the problem?

Think code 61 relates more to your TCU being stuffed.
