I am a newbie, so, wondering how much you should take my recommendation seriously, however, your problem sounds to me like there is something wrong with the battery.
Might be out of charge, which might mean that a new battary required or alternator is not working properly or the alternator belt perhaps.
How about trying to turn on your low beams and try to turn the engine on. If low beam lights are reducing that this is definitaly something with your battery.

Ok, I'm 85% sure it's your starter motor. Firstly, if the battery was flat, ANBU_fto would of mentioned it, the clicking is the the sound of of the starter motor... cos i had that happend to me, lucky i have a manual, btw the clicking shoulf be coming from your passanger side...
Well, all I have to say, is, do a search for other starter motor threads, which might help you out to temporarily fix the problem, but the worst case scenario your looking at reconditioning you starter motor. that's if i'm correct.

before worrying about starter motors... check your battery!
When you turn you can on (without starting it) is the battery level low???
(if yes could be battery)
Does it charge when the car is running?
(if no then alternator)
Batteries are cheap
Alternator reco units we can supply on an exchange basis pretty cheap.
Starter motors haven't had to worry about yet but i'm sure i could source one from an aussie car.
