Dodgy Heater

Post by Daniel2019 »

Hey, my climate control, even when set to 32 degrees, only seems to be blowing air that is very mildly above room temperature about half the time.. It also takes a long time (sometimes up to 15 minutes) to warm up when it actually does blow warm air.

Apparently a good place to start is the thermostat? Anyone know what it may be?

Cheers.

Is your engine running at normal operating temp?
Blocked heater core or blocked heater hoses.
Have fun

He would probably want to be 100% sure the replacement heater core works before ripping out most of the dash

Check your hoses, hose connections and the pipes at both end of the hoses for blockages first :D
Then go for the heater core
With my new heater core my heater gets hot as soon as the engine temp needle moves, about 3 - 4 mins in this cold weather.

I don't turn mine on for a while to allow the engine to warm up and so I don't get the cold air blowing through at startup. So mine probably would be warm sooner too

I hardly ever even use my heater though, only when it's really cold out (below 10 degrees).
I love the cold.

Its easy to check without removing dash. All you need to do is unattach the hoses coming out of the heater core on the engine side (both of them). Jam a garden hose in one of them and turn it on. If you dont get a decent amount of water coming out the other, its blocked.

    Definitely heater core.
Had the same issue in the RVR.
Cooling system was completely blocked and corroded the core out.

    Enjoy.
