Does anyone know what this plug is for?

Post by Technikhaus »

Hey all,
I took off my gear surround today, and noticed this plug just sitting there, does anybody know what it is for?

Yea, there's rust on a lot of the unpainted stuff.
and nope, not the lighter, I just checked that, and it still works.

That might be it. I'd have a look at mine but I want my centre console surround to remain in one piece.
LED ALL the things.

Hmm it's hard to find it in that manual, there's so many connections down there,
from what I could see, it seems that it may be either the A/T connector, or the "Diagnosis code erasure connector"
whatever that is...

I'll put my money on 'D20 - No Connection'

Either that or it's not covered in this particular manual. Remember the electrical manual we have is for a FTO '98 model. Different models do have slightly different wiring, even down to some of the colors to the ECU, 95 GPX manual for example.

Can you trace whether it's coming from a floor loom or the dash loom. If it's coming from a floor loom it's definitely D20.

I checked the chassis code, and it's a factory manual...

Sorry, didn't see your post there, I think it's coming from the same loom as the cigarette lighter....
I'll check again tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure that's where it's from.

If that's the case, then it's not listed in the 'FTO '98' Electrical Manual.

100% sure it connects to the cigarette lighter. Have opened the center console some dozen of times.

It has two more plug like things connecting on the sides of the lighter.

but my lighter still has power?
the cigarette lighter if I'm not mistaken, is 2 separate plugs.

Hmm... odd :/
I have a white one similar to that pic connecting at the center, one black on the side and two small plastic twist ones on the outer sides.

I think it is for the light that illuminates the ring around the cigarette lighter socket.
LED ALL the things.
