what does this do?
me and my brother were looking under my cars hood and i never thought of it before but would this decrease the airflow intake, i never see it on other people intakes, would i be better pulling it of? what exactly does it do if anyone knows im sure you's will

It is your mass airflow sensor. Try running your engine with it unplugged
I don't think your ECU will like the absense of the info it receives from it 
MIVEC engines don't have one like it, they have the sensor running straight from the intake chamber

That there is your Mass Air-Flow sensor (or MAF sensor). It tells the ECU what temperature the intake air is, as well as how much air is flowing through the intake pipe and into the motor. The ECU then uses this information to ensure the right amount of fuel is being thrown into the mix to give you optimum performance in all conditions.
You can get rid of it with an aftermarket ECU and a "MAF-less tune", but I wouldn't personally. Having it there means that your engine will have a similar power output on a 40deg day in Brisbane as it would on a -5deg day in Thredbo. Obviously it can never be the same, as there are other factors (coolant temp, oil temps, etc) but it will do its best to keep it similar.
