Evo7.5 GTA
Anyone drove these baddies before?
Correct me if their gearbox are exactly the same as our auto Fto and legnum?

Re: Evo7.5 GTA
Not exactly the same.
But same principal of gearbox.
From comments of an owner who I've had in our FTO, not as aggressive and intrusive.
Never actually driven one though, but they are less powerful than the manuals.

It's the same gearbox as the AWD Magna/Verada range I am pretty sure

Re: Evo7.5 GTA
They use INVECSII which i assume is identical with FTOs. Maybe with some strengthened parts?
The interesting thing i found out is that apart from the usual +- at the gearbox, there are also +- on EACH side of the steering wheel. So essentially you can drive "manually" with 1hand and 1foot.
I wonder what other cars have this feature.

Re: Evo7.5 GTA
Internals of the all boxes are the same from a Lancer to a 380 with the exception of some ratio changes. Massive overkill Mitsi boxes.

Re: Evo7.5 GTA
Yeah, most likely same internals.
But the gearbox numbers are different, you can't bolt the evo box to the fto engine etc.
And yeah, I agree different ratios for some.

Re: Evo7.5 GTA
Yeah bell housings & ratios differed, but the input & output shaft clusters are fundamentally the same.

Re: Evo7.5 GTA
Makes sense why the old 80s galant gearbox fitted and worked identically to the Magnas.
Good to know.

The 27 spline FTO diff is the same as a TE Magna which is the same as a 3rd gen Eclipse

Re: Evo7.5 GTA

Re: Evo7.5 GTA
Well if someone want to donate an Evo box for researches purposes, I'll confirm.
I guarantee the clusters will fit. The outer section of the bell housing is the same, the 4 shaft bearings are the same part number. Again, it'll simply be a difference in the teeth per gear changing the ratios.
