stiff power steering?

Post by Technikhaus »

Hey all,
A couple of weeks ago I took Nick's (The Real Technikhaus) FTO for a drive, and I noticed that his steering is much lighter than mine, and just yesterday my Dad took mine for a drive, and noticed quite stiff steering.
I have no idea if I even have Power Steering working now? the fluid is completely full so it's not that.
Any ideas on how I could test to see if the pump is working, or something?

it's more so overly heavy, as if there was no power steering... I'm just wondering if it's working properly or not.

Does the steering feel the same as when the car is switched off?

not too sure to be honest, I'm guessing to test there, just try to turn the wheel with the engine off, then start it and try again?

powersteering belt could be loose, or your pumps not working correctly.

Ok, so this morning before uni, I tried what Vectose recommended and moved the wheel with the engine off, then with it on, the Power steering certainly took affect, so the pump must be working?
